CD Review: The Workshy - "Live at Vaudeville Mews"

It may be relatively unusual for a band to go with a “Live at” album as their debut effort, but this was clearly a wise decision for The Workshy. They thrive as the kind of jamband that should first be appreciated live. It’s a familiar format: Live at Fillmore East, the Whiskey, Max’s Kansas City…But who needs those overblown, clichéd venues? In Des Moines we have the Vaudeville Mews, and The Workshy uses that to their advantage.

LBF Preview - Omega Dog

Omega Dog has only been together for eight months, but the band has quickly played multiple shows around Des Moines. Their dedication to practice and songwriting has earned them shows at People’s Court, the Vaudeville Mews, El Bait Shoppe, the Longest Yard, A.K. O’Connors and the Briar Patch Festival.

Mary McAdams, a Des Moines-based singer/song-writer originally from Madison, WI, has put together ten exceptional tracks for her debut, self-titled album. Although I’m probably not the first to say it and certainly won’t be the last, McAdams has a lot of talent - and the ability to take her music as far as she wants to.
